Creating Sustainable Habitats for Bees in an Urban Context

This project focuses on how we can design to bring biodiversity back into cities despite the many constraints that are caused to bee populations within urban areas. I have focused on the importance of bees within this context and my final design is a site which helps with the conservation of solitary bees, educates the general public on this issue and gives an opportunity for research as well.

  • This is my site plan, showing the landscaping of the site, where the building will sit and how the nesting pods are connected with the building and the main path.
  • This is the Floorplan of the building. Showing a research/visitors centre.
  • A visual of a Solitary bee nesting pod, found around the site
  • A visual of the main building and the landscaped site around it.
