Crossing over the Boundary into the 21st Century

The focus of this project was to relieve the divide between the neglected village of Woodhall Spa and the wider social context of Lincolnshire by providing a Community Centre that adopts a much-needed modern design strategy. The centre celebrates the site of Jubilee Park by developing it's sense of place, whilst also making references the beautiful woodlands that encompass the village.

  • An illustration of a map alongside a digitally rendered version of the building; void-like corridors cut through the building to provide a visual connection from one side of the centre to the other.
  • An illustration of a map alongside a digitally rendered version of the building; large modern windows puncture the facade to develop a 21st century aesthetic as well as provide grand views outwards into the site of Jubilee Park.
  • An illustration of a map alongside a digitally rendered version of the building; structurally, the building is composed of a steel frame in composite with reinforced concrete walls that divide the centre into different areas of functionality.
  • An illustration of a map alongside a digitally rendered version of the building; developing the landscape arose by resolving the park's circulation and entrances network to better celebrate the experiences of entering and moving through the park, leading onto the community centre.
